An introductory sketch of the novel
PRIEST LAKE CATHEDRAL

Their parents were old before Christ was born—cedar spreading crowns into a canopy nearly 200 feet above a moist and shadowy realm seething with life, backbone of the Cathedral. Hushed pools like scattered mirrors in the forests floor reflect spectrums of green, and fleeting lances of sunlight amid streams merging pure and cold into main arteries feeding Upper Priest Lake. Intricate webs of life knitted into an ecosystem as exotic and diverse as it is endangered, that’s the Cathedral’s heart, and topping off the brains...a lone wolverine making his last stand....

Andra Davidson is the beautiful young daughter of a wealthy timber baron; Dharman Wright is the son of a farmer dedicating his future to our future, traveling the country and spreading truth about history’s premier natural resource, hemp. Both Andra and Dharman are still recovering from dances with death. Students now at Washington State University, they seem brought together by The Fates.

Love is firing up between them when Dharman introduces Andra to the only place she ever loved, the Cathedral. And he awakens her to the war between generations suckled on tearing down nature, liquidating it into profits and stock portfolios and unsustainable, false luxuries...versus generations running out of places to live. Centered in the war, the Cathedral towers as symbol of what we keep doing wrong, or what we might start doing right.

Over this monumental being—the Cathedral in utter scintillation of life’s glory, Andra and Dharman enter into a new dance with death. Their profound sacrifices are to end either in a reprieve for the Cathedral, a reprieve for living, or simply in more death.
