Mintaka is transporting three Vires to Bezel, Boolean, Aurelian, and Bird. They're about halfway to Bezel when Alnitak's beacon is suddenly picked up from the planet Procyon 2. Surveyor drones have listed Procyon 2 as lifeless. Oxygen/nitrogen atmosphere, but very marginally habitable because of severe solar radiation.

     Actually, there is life on Procyon 2, elusive, and fantastically evolved even before the enormous alien cylinders provided the ultimate intellectual boost that led to Procyon 2's energy spiders. They trapped Alnitak, and Mintaka seems next.
